About

Winter Gardens Conservatory

Your donations to the Winter Gardens Conservatory are used to procure and keep in repair string instruments for students with a financial need, and to build an endowment fund for a teacher salary. The cost of putting on concerts is also covered.

Winter Gardens Free Children’s Orchestra

The orchestra rehearsals are in the Steamboat Springs Middle School band room. The orchestra has a beginner group and an intermediate group. The beginner group accepts children from fourth and fifth grade in any elementary school and runs before school from 7:15-7:50 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A bus transports Soda Creek Elementary students to school from there. The intermediate group accepts students in sixth through eighth grade and students who have been in private lessons for a year or more. Intermediate rehearsals are on Mondays and Wednesdays after school from 3:30-4:15.

There is no cost to participate, but a $30 donation is suggested to the Winter Gardens Fund. There is a cost to rent instruments. Parents of students with financial need should contact the orchestra director to learn of other options to get an instrument.
